2016, Photography

They say if photography is your passion, then go for it. If something is currently more important, then photograph that instead. Photography for me got really personal and when I wanted to go deep, the situation with my son after his stroke really blocked my photography. There was just simply too much to worry about. I needed the break. So I’m sorry for my almost two month hiatus. I actually thought this very blog was dead, over.

My son is gradually improving. Nearly two weeks ago he came back home after twelve weeks of intensive recovery in a rehabilitation hospital. And last week for the first time I felt an urge to photograph seriously again. So, I hope to be doing more regular updates on blog again too.

  1. I was so happy to see your post Wouter! Great to hear that your son is back at home again. My very best wishes for his continued recovery.

  2. Good to see you’re back, Wouter! I hope things will go uphill from here for you and your family.

  3. You inspire me with each post. Glad to have you back. More happy to hear your son is improving. It is a long journey.

    Brian.

    1. Thank you for your comment Brian. No matter how long or short a journey is, it can make it all worth it though, especially since our son improved a lot compared to nearly 4 months ago.

      1. and you on mine… As are M, B, and L… Can you believe they actually cancelled one of the best Paris Nice stages because of, pfffft, snow? There seriously must be a connection with cycling and photography xxxx

  4. Photography can be a healer I find, it has helped me through some hard times, hopefully it can do the same for you. Glad to see that your son is on the mend and you are back out with your camera.

  5. I am with Mol on this..hope it works for you too..cycling can also be a healer . Luckily the two go together very well and indeed , the cycle can add to the shot, as you demonstrated so well. Looks like Kootwijk Radio Station..a magical place.

    1. Cycling, as photography, can certainly be a healer Paula. And you’re right, the Kootwijk Radio Station is absolutely a special place (only 30 km from my hometown).

  6. These photos are absolutely incredible! I wish I could take photos like this! I really want to do more photography but I can just never find the time, and I’m not very good at it. But these are great!

  7. Wonderful news that your son continues to improve. I’d say this group of images is much more open and forward looking than before your break. I think you’ve always said your photography is a reflection of your own emotional state, so this looks like you are feeling a bit better now, too. If that’s true, these are doubly welcome to see.

  8. Hi Wouter

Just wanted to say that I hope your son’s health improves as soon as possible and you both have many years of good health.

    Jonathan
