The Click
When you press the shutter there isn’t just that click of the shutter. There is also that click briefly before when you see the moment. It builds up. The light, the subject, your mood. You feel it. And some of these moments demands to be cherished. This one is for my wife.
Photograph by Wouter Brandsma
Youmight see the moment but your composition and processing make it work, lovely picture Wouter
Thank you, Paul. Even the framing came intuitively.
The camera is just a tool, it’s the eye of the photographer that makes the picture 🙂
So true, Piet. Don’t be a slave of the camera.
You inspire me Wouter. Thank you.
And you inspire me too, Richard. Thank you.
Nice image Wouter. Happy Mother’s Day to you and yours………
Thank you Don. It was really a moment I felt coming for a long way.
The light is so great! Very nice Wouter.
I knew I had this few minutes before the rain would arrive (you can see the dark clouds in the distance). That moment before the sun would be covered with clouds can be special. In the Netherlands we like to call that ‘The Dutch Light” which was used a lot in famous paintings from the 17th century.
Happy Mother’s Day Wouter! What a beautiful image. There’s so much going on in this image as I see a beautiful young lady with confidence in her gaze as she’s enjoying a light spring breeze through her hair with the fragrance from the nearby flowers wafting by.
I really like these moments, Duane. And she enjoys them too.
This shot is so wonderful and magical!
Light can be so special, doesn’t it Anette? Thank you.
This is photo is brilliant Wouter. Amazing photograph. Thank you for sharing your photos and thoughts on photography.
You’re welcome, Dan.
Beautiful.. A lot going on in this photo..
Thank you Björn (my son is named Björn too). Even though the composition is kept simple there is still a lot going on in the photograph. I like that a lot.
Just… beautiful!
Means a lot to me, António. Thank you.

So much to like here, Wouter. A great vision captured well.
Thank you Ryan and Paulo.
It is moments like this that make our photography so rewarding. You’ve captured a moment that I’m sure will leave an indelible impression in your wife’s memory. My friend ― bravo, very nicely done and processed, you poured your soul on this one (hint, hint, “soul”) Happy Mother’s day to your wife and others in your family.
It does leave a precious memory with all of us. That is the strength of photography.
Good use of light and compositionj.
Thank you Yesbut. What a really good portrait series do you have!
Wouter,
This is just a wonderful photo. May I get technical and ask what camera and pp if any? Again a gorgeous memory!
Hi Bruce, I used my GRD3 and did process the image in Lightroom with a bit of dodging and burning.
Beautiful picture, Wouter! Adrian
Impressive shot. Love the tones and compo.
Cheers
The magic of the moment. And you who are able to capture them so masterly. And the countryside lies wide before us. Thanks, my friend!
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Such a perfect shot…
I hope I could catch lights as good as you do.
Hi Wouter! Fantastic photography and great thoughts in your blog – really inspiring to me. I think I noticed your shots in Flickr some years ago through my long time Flickr friend, Richard (whom you know I think). Now I came to see your blog. What a shame I did not do this earlier.
Best wishes from Finland,
Jonne
Thank you so much. I read you ordered the GR and that Richard already has one. I have still no idea when I receive mine. Love to hear your thoughts on the GR.
Superb capture.
