Upside down
Each year we basically rehearse our steps. While it makes sense looking forward it can make sense too to look backwards as well. To get a better understanding of what you did and what happened. A year ago I deleted my facebook account after privacy concerns, a couple of days ago I removed my Instagram account. As a result I decided to not delete my flickr account which I intended to do earlier this year. Now we can only wait for the next controversy I guess.

Rainy steps
I won’t be posting any “best of” lists at the end of 2012. The archive is my list. I had my doubts about continuing my blog, but I stick to this platform. It is my outlet. For 2013 I am thinking about some layout changes including a larger font for better reading. I will keep up the larger size for my photographs too. Additionally I want to overhaul my project site completely and go for larger photographs and just a better experience. If anyone has a suggestion for a good platform (preferably low to free cost) keep me informed in the comment section.
When I write this the Pacific already enters 2013. Take care and I see you in 2013.

Your blog is my inspiration. My blog is my outlet. I did post very regularly the last four years now I got myself a new camera I was dreaming of for a long time. Now I will start to rehearse my steps anew. And I’m looking forward to get out & see things in a slightly new way & through a new lense. Some projects already planned for 2013 as well as returning to this great inspiring place of yours, Wouter. Wishing you all the best for this next year. Though it will be another year of controversy & doubts (I know them so well) in the end it’s these two that keep me moving. Thanks for the past my friend & I’m looking forward to the next one.
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
A new camera and lens will change your photography. Maybe a step at a time, but it will change. I look forward to these changes. I normally don’t plan things for a new year, but I will be restarting a project I did a couple of years ago. Thank you Fritsch and next year more imagery of us will follow.
Many thanks for the inspiration and motivation throughout the year. My very best wishes for 2013!
Thank you Vic. All the best to you and hopefully a good year to you and a proper winter in Switzerland (your temperatures got close to our sea climate).
Wouter, I have tried several platforms for my own photo series, and I am very happy with Cargo: http://cargocollective.com
It has very nice (customizable) design templates, and you can create 12 projects with a free account. You need to apply for an account. But if you send them a link to your blog, that won’t be a problem (I got my account within 1 day). Highly recommendable.
I wish you and your family all the best for 2013.
Thank you for mentioning Cargo Collective, Robert. It looks like they have something will page spreads images. I will have a good look at it.
Take care for tonight. You are in the most notorious cities of all in the Netherlands.
Happy New Year Wouter!
You too, Andrew. I wish you good light for 2013.
Happy 2013, Wouter. Maybe this will be a year of simplification for us all.
(P.S. Your photos are always an inspiration. The grain in these is marvelous.)
In spirit of the current (and seemingly everlasting) crisis we can all welcome the year of the simplification. Less is more. Best to you.
Happy New Year, Wouter!
All the best to you and a happy New Year!
Hey Wouter, please don’t stop your blog. I like visiting and I like some of your photos. Not everything is, as we Brits like to say my-cup-of-tea, but some really, really nice photos. As Winston Churchill once said, “if you are going through Hell, keep going!”. Keep going Wouter.
Don’t worry Chris. I will keep it alive for hopefully many more years. Best wishes for 2013!
Happy new year Wouter, nothing but the best to you and your family…Regards.
I wish you all the best for 2013. I hope you make it fine.
Wouter- Happy New Year, I’ve always enjoyed your fotos and blog comments. The fotos are of a style that I’m trying to get to and still have not at this time. Keep it up and keep posting.
Thank you George. Best wishes and good light for 2013. Learn to feel what you see and capture what you feel.
Your wonderful photos bring the viewer straight into the frame where it is always such a joy to be. Thank you and so many best wishes to you for choices, decisions and more great work during 2013.
Best wishes Patti. Let we both hope that 2013 will bring interesting light.
Well my friend, I’m glad your making a few changes, changes are sometimes good and I know you barely do them in design. Photographically speaking, I’m so very curious to see where you’re going. Photography is kind of like a maze, you go in, and sometimes you end up lost and going around and around thinking you’re going somewhere and end up going elsewhere. The way I see it its the journey along that path that serves us well. Leave the doubts aside and go for it, see what’s next, don’t be afraid(not saying you are but generally speaking) to try new things.
Sometimes we find what we’re not looking for and in my case, I’m loving it, so much that I’m going all this year and really letting my thoughts go where ever they may, no restrictions, no guidelines, no preconceived notions, just straight out photography !!! I learned from you and I consider you one of my teachers, so now from student to teacher, I tell you, let it go, explore, remove the chains, and never doubt yourself, you’re imagery and creativity absolutely are top notch.
All the best as always, dale (its a spanish word, meaning “go for it”)
Jorge
Your #1 fan.
A splendid start to the New Year Wouter. I think the second of y0ur pictures is a masterpiece
Absolutely beautiful presentation. I find the size of the images works perfectly with this layout with my particular screen. As to the size of the text, i inadvertently discovered on my blog that if I prepare my text ahead on a different program ( I use OpenOffice) and use a larger font size that I can cut & paste the text with an increased font size. There is a limitation on how large it would go, but it made a significant difference. You will see it if you scroll through any posts. Best in the New Year. 🙂
Best wishes for 2013 to you and your family Wouter. Thanks for the inspirations and your beautyful images throughout 2012.
