Diagonals

I love diagonals in photographs. They can add depth and perspective, lead the eye through a composition, and help to “read” a photograph. But I also like diagonals ’cause they are different to horizontal and vertical lines, yet add strength like in a construction.

Every time I look at your photos I get discouraged by the amount of work I still need to do before getting anywhere near such depth !
When you really want to, you’ll be following the same path. I hope that is not a discouragement, but an enlightenment.
and it’s nice that you get them without camera rotation, you see them in the landscape (cityscape).
And an even greater joy in square format, because it doesn’t matter how the camera is oriented.
Sharp lines are very attractive indeed!
I would prefer to call them distinctive lines. And they sure are attractive.
It’s the interplay of guiding the eye, helping to read & the hypnotizing they do to me every time. That’s why I’m so addicted to diagonals, lines & your imagery, Wouter!
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.
Thank you Fritsch! They add simplicity while they can still be personal.
