I spectated the ISU World Sprint Speed Skating Championships in Thialf icestadium in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. Both the women’s race as the men’s race where very exciting. In the women’s competition Jenny Wolf from Germany became World Champion. Second was Anni Friesinger from Germany and third was Annette Gerritsen from the Netherlands.
In the men’s competition the last 1,000 meter race between Jeremy Wotherspoon from Canada and Kyou-Hyuk Lee from Korea would be the decisive race for victory. Former World Champion Wotherspoon was favorite and was in the lead. In the last round Kyou-Hyuk Lee defeated Wotherspoon and became World Champion. Second was Jeremy Wotherspoon and third was Joon Mun from Korea. Best Dutch racer was Simon Kuipers ending forth. Dutch favorite Jan Bos felt in the 500 meter race against Jeremy Wotherspoon.
